First day: Cesana Pariol

Today was my first day of work.

Yesterday morning JD and I went to the IBC with Brandon (who works there). We got boot vouchers from Dr. Owens and actually ended up eating breakfast in the foodcourt with him. After waiting around from 9:00 when we got there until 12:30 for the boot distribution center to open, we grabbed our boots and then got on media transportation to go up the mountain.

After a very long and complicated journey, we arrived at my lodging. JD and I checked out the room and then he headed back down the mountain (he doesn’t start working for a while).

The lodging is pretty nice. There are four buildings with four floors each. Each floor is about as long as an Asbury dorm hall. I share a room with two Italians that I work with. The lodge provides us breakfast and also has a restaurant open for dinner.

Today at work we mostly shovelled snow. Since we’re working with the logistics department, we have to keep the media compound at the venue easy to use for the crew. Today that meant creating walking paths through recent snow.

At the end of the day we received our uniforms, which I am told are worth close to $1000. They gave us everything that you can imagine and it’s all really nice.
